Kalm Waters is your private shore and peaceful sanctuary at the center of breathtaking scenery and endless recreation.
The Lakes Region and White Mountains of New Hampshire are the wilderness and playgrounds of New England. We have photographs of the grandparents cottage-hopping here long before Dad purchased the lot.
The earliest area maps are tourist maps, while the infamous Presidential Range—including 6288-foot Mount Washington—trains climbers for Everest. Neither resolve nor patience has extracted the frontier and its splendor from this state; live free or die.
That old school Yankee sensibility and a long off-season still send the keenest developers scrambling back to the city. What remains, besides nature’s best undisturbed offerings, are time-tested entertainments, recreations, and delights.
We spent fifty summers here, June to September, learning this terrain, from Funspot to Barnstormers, Zeb’s to the Woodshed, Santa’s Village to the Yum Yum Shop, the Gorge to the Notches, the Kank to the Cog.
With the fluency of owners and the insight of visitors, we share our personal experience in The Kalm Waters Guide—an annual list of the best of Ossipee Lake and everything in a daytrip’s distance—complimentary with your stay.
Here’s a peek at where we can take you. Want to know more—just ask.
Explore

Whether picking wild blueberries in the woods for a tin of home-made muffins, adjusting one boot on your water skis so it’s loose enough to drop, or tackling a new route or method to one of the state’s forty-eight 4000-foot summits, every step out our screen doors has the feel of an adventure, because it is one.

Indulge

Dad and Mom loved a great meal out, and they taught us how to appreciate all kinds of food by bringing us along from an early age. Steaks at the original Woodshed, hand-made sundaes at Kellerhaus, or two-pound lobsters on the porch, there was always excellent local fare to treat and develop our tastes.

Seek & Find

How we graduated from the cheap plastic toys we won fishing at the Hansel and Gretel Shop or throwing Ski-Balls at Funspot to the arts and crafts we now admire at a League of New Hampshire Craftsmen show or our favorite antique shops is a good question with a simple answer. All of it inspired us!
